Bassetlaw Partnership for Health Annual Event
at
The Crossing, Worksop 4th December 2008
Bassetlaw Partnership for Health
held its Annual Conference at The Crossing in Worksop on 4th
December 2008. Bassetlaw Partnership for Health focuses on health and
social care initiatives which link to the objectives of the Local
Strategic Partnership for Bassetlaw.
This Annual Conference provided an
opportunity for the public, statutory and voluntary sector partners to
obtain information about the Government’s ‘Putting People First
Programme’. Paul Mackay (Nottinghamshire County Council, Programme
Manager for Putting People First) explained the objectives, timeframes
and actions being undertaken by the County Council to implement the Self
Directed Support initiative. He explained that this initiative will
provide a more focussed approach to the care of individuals which will
enable them to have more control over the choice of support they
receive.
Delegates attended a variety of Workshops
to reflect on the implications for individuals and organisations
operating within the Health and Social Care arena in Bassetlaw. The
information collected from the Workshops will be considered by
Nottinghamshire County Council in planning the implementation of the
‘Putting People First’ agenda. This was a unique opportunity for
individuals and organisations in Bassetlaw to be engaged, at an early
stage, in this exciting Government initiative.
